Two relatively unsung Bend, Oregon trail building and maintenance heroes — Kent Howes (left, managing Wanoga project) and Eric Sageser (right, receiving COTA award) — recently launched Treadwerks, a trail design, building, construction and consulting firm. Kent and Eric have both contributed enormously to our famed Central Oregon mountain bike, trail running, nordic skiing and hiking trail system. Now, their years of knowledge and expertise can be tapped by private land owners and developers, as well as public land mangers, who want top-notch trails designed to enhance the land and outdoor recreation opportunities. Check out the Treadwerks website. And contact me if you need a reference — these guys are the real deal. -hoc
